Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Saturday donated cars as part of logistic support for the smooth take-off of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK), located in southern part of the state.
FUASK is the first university of applied sciences in Nigeria and aims to focus on innovative and practical education, especially in fields related to applied sciences, medicine, and technology.
President Bola Tinubu approved the establishment of the University this year after its law was passed by the National Assembly.
Governor Sani on his official Facebook page wrote, “Today, in fulfillment of our administration’s promise to give necessary logistical support to the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia to smoothen the take-off of the institution in September, I presented a car each to the Pro-Chancellor and Vice Chancellor, as well as a bus for students and staff.”
The Governor explained that the formal presentation was made when he held a meeting with the institution’s Board Members and Stakeholders to review progress so far made and to strengthen collaboration between the State Government and the University.
The team was led by the Pro-Chancellor, His Lordship, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
According to Governor Sani, “Our administration is committed to supporting the university through the provision of infrastructure like roads for better access.
“We are also working with security agencies to ensure a safe and secure learning and teaching environment, while engaging federal stakeholders and partners to fast-track the university’s growth and operational readiness,” he added.
During the meeting, the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor commended the state government for its unwavering support, especially in facilitating the establishment of the university and preparing it ahead of the admission of its pioneer students.
They noted that the proactive backing from the state has been instrumental in laying a strong foundation for the institution’s takeoff.
Governor Sani has explained that FUASK stands as a beacon of hope—a catalyst for change and a vehicle for transforming the socio-economic landscape of our region.
“We shall continue to work closely with the management team to ensure that the institution fulfills its mission to develop practical knowledge, advance innovation, and empower future generations,” the Governor said.
