Newly sworn-in acting Inspectoe General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has held a courtesy visit with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, in Abuja—just one day after assuming office.
IGP Disu, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday and sworn-in on Wednesday following the resignation of his predecessor Kayode Egbetokun, met Akume on Thursday amid pledges to reform the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The new IGP has vowed to address human rights abuses and impunity within the force, while backing President Tinubu’s administration in its battle against rampant insecurity, including banditry, kidnappings for ransom and terrorism.
NewsQuest reports that the visit signals early efforts to align police leadership with top government figures as the country grapples with persistent security challenges.
