Kaduna State Governor Sen. Uba Sani told supporters that northern Nigeria would “repay” President Bola Tinubu with votes in the 2027 election, framing the administration’s investments in roads, security, education and agriculture as the foundation for the ruling party’s re-election campaign.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off at Ranchers Bees Stadium, Sani cast Tinubu’s record in the North as a political asset rather than a matter of regional loyalty.
He cited road reconstruction, improved security in Birnin Gwari, reopened schools and clinics, and federal support for students and artisans as evidence that the administration had delivered tangible benefits.
The governor pointed to the ongoing Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto road project and the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway reconstruction, which he said was about 95% complete.
He also recalled Tinubu’s 2022 campaign visit to Birnin Gwari, an area then affected by insecurity, saying the president had since followed through on pledges on road construction and security.
Sani said his administration, working with the federal government, had reopened more than 300 schools and over 150 primary-healthcare centers that had been closed because of insecurity.
On education, the governor said the North-West had benefited from roughly N250 billion in student loans, which he described as support for a large number of students.
He also cited federal programs aimed at young people and artisans as part of a broader effort to improve livelihoods in the region.
The governor argued that northern support for Tinubu should rest on the administration’s policies and projects, not sentiment.
“The people of Northern Nigeria will repay you with their votes,” Sani said.
Sani also cautioned APC members against complacency, saying opposition campaigns had moved beyond social-media platforms such as Facebook and X and were increasingly using artificial intelligence.
He urged party supporters to remain alert to messaging he characterized as lacking substantive policy alternatives.
Vice President Kashim Shettima and Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the APC’s 2027 campaign council, also addressed the rally, which marked the formal start of the party’s campaign for the January 2027 presidential election.
