“Most of the African countries discussed their challenges and we agreed to work with China and other countries to ensure that security is enhanced in Africa, the Sahel, and indeed, Nigeria,” the Defence Minister said.

Badaru said, “We have been working on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will be signed this year on broader security aspects and that will handle most of the important concepts that need to be put together to work together so that we can fight insecurity in Africa and the world.”

The Defence Minister also disclosed that the recent MoU signed between Nigeria and China on nuclear energy was an important instrument that would help the country develop its nuclear capabilities mainly for civil use..

Nigeria in recent times has recorded  unprecedented security challenges including banditry, kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, terrorism, and crude oil theft.
