Wike slams claims of PDP split …. as parties await S’Court verdict

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has rubbished talk of warring camps in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) – insisting there is only one party.

The firebrand politician and former Governor of Rivers State stated in Abuja yesterday after inspecting ongoing projects.

“It’s natural for some to moan – but that’s politics,” Wike shrugged to journalists.

Reconciliation chats are steaming ahead ahead of the PDP bash on March 29-30, 2026.

But, Minister Wike insisted the noise won’t block peace deals – they can roll on after.

“That there is convention, doesn’t mean there will be no reconciliation,” he blasted.

“I am not aware of any separate camp. There’s only one PDP!”

Wike also rubbished rival faction rumours, adding that primaries kick off April 23 to May 13 – no time for faffing.

“Everything has its timeline,” he warned.

NewsQuest updates reports that the Court of Appeal in Abuja ruled on March 8-9, 2026, upholding a Federal High Court decision that nullified the PDP’s controversial November 2025 national convention in Ibadan, where Tanimu Turaki was elected chairman.

The Court decision faboured the pro-Minister Wike ‘faction’ by deeming the convention unconstitutional and in defiance of prior court orders, including exclusion of figures like Sule Lamido.

But, Lamido has indicated he is backing the faction of the Minister Wike, in the leadership crisis.

The Turaki faction (backed by Governor Makinde and others) rejected the verdict, and have since filed an appeal to the Supreme Court vowing to challenge it.

Minister Wike has since urged reconciliation and ego-dropping post-ruling.
