Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike on Monday said the administration targets to complete between 8 to 10 ongoing infrastructure projects by January 2027.
Wike who stated this while inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja also pledged to clamp down on illegal street racing that has sprung up on newly paved roads.
The projects, he said, remain on schedule despite recent commissioning events, and contractors will receive timely funding to clear critical stages ahead of the rainy season.
“We will not let them down,” Minister Wike told reporters.
He explained that “People have seen promises made and promises fulfilled. About eight to ten projects which we agreed will be completed before January, so we will make sure that all these things are done.”
Deputy Director Press in the Minister’s office Rabi Musa in a statement said, among the sites assessed was the long-delayed Apo-Karshi road, originally awarded in 2010.

Minister Wike said streetlight installations were under way and praised the contractor, SCC, and local communities for cooperating to move the project toward completion.
He also said work on the Bwari-Kubwa road was advancing rapidly and is expected to be delivered before the next rainy season.
The Minister described the timeline as dependent on continued funding and contractor performance.
He said the administration would continue routine inspections to track progress.
Speaking specifically on the rising public-safety concerns linked to illegal high-speed racing on the capital’s new streets, the Minister said, while improved roads had attracted auto enthusiasts, racing in residential areas endangered lives and violated traffic laws.
“First of all, that goes to show how beautiful the roads are, but people often forget that certain activities pose a danger to innocent citizens,” he said.
“If people want to carry out car racing, there are designated areas where they should do that, not in residential areas. Nobody will allow that.”
He added that the FCT administration would coordinate with traffic-enforcement authorities to halt unauthorized racing in residential communities in Abuja’s city centre.
