Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has disclosed that federal transfers to his state have jumped to about ₦16 billion a month from roughly ₦4.5 billion, crediting President Bola Tinubu’s sweeping economic reforms for the improvement.

Speaking in Lafia – the State capital during a visit by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors National Media Tour—a delegation led by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga, Governor Sule said the boost in allocations has opened fiscal space for “landmark” projects across the central Nigerian state.

Director of Media for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Tunde Rahman in a statement said the tour, which includes presidential media aides and more than 50 senior journalists, is inspecting federal and state projects in the North‑Central region.

“As someone from the private sector, I run a transparent administration. Every contract I award, I announce the amount so people can see the difference in the funds we now receive,” Governor Sule said.

He contrasted current receipts with the earlier period of his administration, when the country’s monthly revenue pool was between about ₦590 billion and ₦620 billion, and Nasarawa’s share was limited to between ₦3.8 billion and ₦4.5 billion.

The Governor acknowledged that the removal of the fuel subsidy and other reforms introduced by President Tinubu initially caused hardship, but he praised the president’s “political courage” in pressing ahead.

“He took the bullet” on behalf of states and local governments, Governor Sule said, adding that the reforms were intended to strengthen the economy and expand governments’ ability to deliver services.

The Nasarawa State Governor explained that the increased federal transfers have already financed projects in road construction, industrial development, education, health care and water supply across the State.

He described the gains as early evidence that the reforms are increasing resources available to subnational governments.
