Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has begun consultations with prominent Northern emirs and traditional leaders as part of efforts to galvanize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Yari led a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwarts to the palaces of the Emirs of Gwandu, Katsina, Daura and Zaria Monday, saying the party would involve traditional rulers and other key groups as it prepares for next year’s election.
The visits followed meetings on Sunday with the Ooni of Ife and the Emir of Ilorin.
Yari said the campaign council was seeking the traditional rulers’ prayers, blessings and advice, not formal political endorsements.
He described traditional leaders as important voices for peace, unity and stability.
The Director-General also promised that the campaign would “carry all stakeholders along” as it builds support across the country.
The visits are part of a nationwide consultation with traditional and political leaders.
The Director-General also said the goal is to build consensus and strengthen its campaign structures before major campaign activities begin.
At the palaces, the traditional rulers prayed for peace, unity and the success of the elections in 2027
He was accompanied by several former governors and senior party leaders, including Ali Modu Sheriff, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Adamu Aliero, Ahmad Sani Yarima, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Muhammad Danjuma Goje and former Katsina governor Ibrahim Shehu.
The move, sources gathered, signals an early push by the APC to secure goodwill from influential traditional institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
