The Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji on Tuesday lauded President Bola Tinubu’s reforms as a decisive break from drift and delay that is fast resetting the nation’s economy.
Dr. Adedeji stated this at the commissioning of the NRS’s new corporate headquarters in Abuja.
While welcoming President Tinubu, State Governors, industry leaders, staff, and other guests to the ceremony, Dr. Adedeji said the new building symbolized “order over drift” and “execution over intent.”
He called the project “the physical manifestation of a nation choosing discipline over fragmentation.”
The NRS Chief Executive linked the new headquarters to President Tinubu administration’s wider economic reforms that are restoring macroeconomic credibility through exchange-rate unification, the clearing of foreign-exchange backlogs and efforts to rebuild investor confidence.
Dr. Adedeji also said Nigeria’s more than 60 fragmented tax laws previously had been streamlined into a more coherent framework that improved compliance and administration without increasing the tax burden.
He said the changes had helped deliver record domestic revenue performance.
Other measures, he said, included stronger remittance systems, more transparent public finance practices and trade modernization through the National Single Window.
Dr. Adedeji commended the decision to sell crude oil in naira, saying it had supported stability in the energy sector.
The NRS boss described President Tinubu as the central figure behind a coordinated fiscal turnaround.
“Only a leader with clarity of purpose, courage of conviction, and commitment to long-term national interest can drive change at this scale,” he said.
In the middle of his remarks, the NRS Chief Executive request members of the audience to rise and honour President Tinubu for his quality of leadership.
Dr. Adedeji also thanked the Minister of Finance and coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, describing him as an important intellectual force behind the reforms.
The NRS boss also singled out the Minister of State for Finance Oyodele Taiwo, the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, the Works Ministry Dave Umahi and the Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Dr. Adebowale Adedokun for their contributions in the headquarter project.
“This headquarters stands today as one of the tangible expressions of that reform journey,” Dr. Adedeji said. “Reform is not abstract, but real; not temporary, but structural.”
