President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a network of supporters, promoting his  “Renewed Hope” agenda to distribute rice nationwide to assist families observing Ramadan and Lent.

Renewed Hope Ambassadors focuses on grassroots outreach to educate citizens about government reforms, achievements like economic improvements, and programs such as ward development.

NewsQuest reports that the group drives public awareness, collects feedback, and strengthens support for policies on security, food prices, and currency stability.

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, in a statement on Sunday, said the effort aims to foster national unity and compassion during the fasting periods sacred to Muslims and Christians.

The distribution is expected to occur through the group’s state, local government, and ward-level structures to reach communities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

Our correspondent gathered that a similar rice giveaway took place during last year’s Christmas season, signaling the administration’s ongoing support during major religious observances.

Governor Uzodimma who is the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, hailed the initiative as a reflection of President Tinubu’s commitment to interfaith harmony.

“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity, and care for one another,” Governor Uzodimma said in the statement.

“Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.”

Our correspondent gathered that the presidential intervention comes as Nigeria grapples with inflation and food insecurity, with the government assuring that the Programme’s focus is on spiritual solidarity rather than economic relief.
