Senator Mohammed Sani Musa on Monday affirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the last two years has intervened greatly in creating an enabling environment for the youths to strive and achieve their goals.
Senator Sani who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance stated this during a high-level sideline event at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States of America.
“Until the coming of this administration, I believe Mr. President came with such initiatives where he has given so much to the youths, and we can see what it is translating into,” Senator Sani said.
According to him, it is obvious to see that a lot of youths are using what they have planned to bring dynamism in the running of affairs, especially in governance.
Senator Sani continues that “So many of us do believe that it’s only through government that you will be able to achieve your goals. But with what he (President) has done and the enabling environment that he has given, I think in areas of technology, we have seen start-ups.
“A lot of youths in agriculture, we have seen how he is transforming agriculture, turning our present agricultural system into more mechanized agriculture. In financial inclusivity, you can see how he has opened space for everyone to be part of it, especially bridging the gap in our foreign exchange.
“There used to be pressure on the foreign exchange, but it’s no longer. It’s no longer the same. So, when you look at all these areas, and then look at what the removal of subsidy is doing to the country today.
“A lot of revenue is coming. You can see the tax reforms that have been done. You see quite a lot of things have been done there. And these reforms, from January, we will start seeing what it will manifest. Because of what we are looking at in the next two years, we should be able to achieve the 1 trillion economy.
“It’s not impossible for us. We have everything that it takes to get to that point. So, I believe initiatives like this are very important, and we should do more of them, and when we are doing it, we should really organize ourselves to make it more vibrant so that the outside world will look at us and know that we are doing the right thing.
Asked what specific message he will give to the youths regarding the reforms, Senator Sani explained that they must participate and be seen to participate.
He said that there are so many ways to do it. ‘They are the engine room of any country, to progress economically, whether in security, you have to do it with that age, that youthful age.
Senator Sani noted that there is no better time for Nigerian youth to participate in governance than this time when the Tinubu administration is providing the enabling environment and pushing for speedy economic growth.
The Lawmaker also urged chief executives of relevant government agencies to propagate the administration’s activities for buy-in especially at this period that the United Nations is eight years old and Nigeria is over 60 years old after independence.
“I believe that this is the right time we should be able to focus on re-engineering every sector of our country, the whole of Africa. We have a vibrant youth population which is more dynamic in terms of productivity,” he added.
NewsQuest reports that President Tinubu’s government has demonstrated strong support for Nigerian youth through various impactful initiatives aimed at equipping them with skills and opportunities to compete on the global stage.
Our correspondent gathered that among such initiatives are the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA), a major platform providing world-class training in digital literacy, technical skills, entrepreneurship, and the creative industries, targeting millions of young Nigerians over the next two years.
