President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dele Alake, on his 70th birthday, praising a longtime political ally whose career has spanned journalism, Lagos State government and the federal cabinet.

In a personal statement, President Tinubu described Alake as a forthright, loyal and committed associate, saying he had known him for decades as a steady hand with a reputation for hard work, excellence and delivering results.

The President highlighted Alake’s record in journalism, including his advocacy against military rule and human-rights abuses during Nigeria’s years of military dictatorship.

He also recalled Minister Alake’s eight-year tenure as Lagos State commissioner for information and strategy.

President Tinubu commended the minister’s work in the solid-minerals sector, where the government is seeking to attract investment and expand mining’s contribution to the economy.

He also praised Alake’s role as chairman of the Africa Minerals Strategy Group.

The President prayed for Minister Alake to be granted more years in good health and continued service to God, Nigeria and humanity.
