Newly appointed Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barrister Cosmas Akighir recently visited the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, at his residence in Abuja alongside other executives of the commission.
Chairman Akighir was accompanied by the Managing Director of the NCDC, Dr.Cyril Tsenyi, and the Executive Director of Projects, Princess Atika Ajanah on a homage to the SGF who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in North Central region.
The new NCDC chairman and his executive members are awaiting the confirmation of their appointment by the Senate.
President Bola Tinubu has since written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of the appointments of 19 persons to the NCDC board including the Chairman, and the Managing Director/CEO.
President Tinubu’s letter read at plenary by Senate President Godswill Alpabio on Thursday 8th May 2025 reads in part; “In accordance with the provisions of Part I, Section 2(2)(a) of the North-Central Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024…”I write to present, for confirmation by the Senate, in consultation with the House of Representatives, the appointments of the under-listed nineteen (19) persons as Chairman, Managing Director/CEO, and Members of the Board of the North-Central Development Commission”.
It continued that “They are Cosmas Akyhir Chairman (Benue), Tsenyil Yiltsen, Managing Director (Plateau), Dauda Kigbu (Nasarawa), Zakari Jikantoro (Niger). Others are Sulaiman Ali, member (Kogi), Reverend Bunmi Olusona, member (Kwara), Dr Umar Mantu (Plateau), Atotse Abraham (Benue).
“Solomon Adodo, member; FCT, Abdulkadir Usman (North-West), Habu Mamman (North-East), and Dr Atinuke Owolabi (South-West).
“Racheal Nse (South-South), Boniface Izziogu (South-East), James Uloko Executive Director (Benue), Atika Ajanah Executive Director, Projects (Kogi).
“Hajiya Bilgis Sanni Executive Director (Kwara), Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim Executive Director (Nasarawa). and Muhammad Bashar Executive Director (Niger).
“While hoping that the request will receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate. please accept, Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration,” Tinubu added.
