Minister Wike gets N158.904b FEC’s approval for Abuja infrastructure projects

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday approved contracts worth N158.904 billion for the execution of various projects in Abuja in furtherance of the city’s administration’s desire to boost infrastructure and improve the living conditions of residents.

Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike in the last 21 Months has been undertaking massive infrastructural projects including road expansion and construction aimed at enhancing connectivity and boosting economic growth.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure said the administration presented five different memos to the Council and secured all approval.

“Today, the 3rd of February, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has presented five different memoranda on the infrastructure development of the federal capital city and the satellite towns.

“The first level that was presented was for the approval of the award of contract for the provision of access for the full scope of the bus terminal at Mabushi, cadastral zone plot BO6 Phase II  of the Capital city, Abuja. And the contract was awarded to messers SETRACO Nigeria limited with the contract sum of N30,971,603,749.31 with the total completion period of 18 months.”

“The second memo was for approval for the award of contract for the development of a artetial road No.1 from Wuye district ring road II within the Federal Capital City, and it was awarded to Arab Contractors Nigeria, limited with the sum of N62,502,420,795 with the total completion period of 20 months,” she noted.

The third memo which also got approval, the Minister said, was for the award of contract for the construction of KUJE/Gwagwalada dual carriage way in the FCT under the satellite  development department of the administration.

According to her, the contract was awarded to Messers Gilmo Engineering Nigeria limited with contract  amount of N7,495,856,181.20.

She explained that athe fourth one was approval for the award of contract for the rehabilitation of old Keffi road from Kado village to Dei Dei by outer the Northern expressway junction, and is about 15 kilometers here in Abuja.

“And the contract was awarded to messers Lubric construction company, limited with the contract amount of N26,870,063,666.82 with the completion period of 18 months

“And the last one was for the approval for the award of contract with provisional access road to the Renewed Hope cities and estate project within the cadasdral zone and Kasana west district of FCC. And it was also awarded to mersses Lubric Construction Nigeria limited with the contract sum of N31,664,200,395.85, also with a completion period of 18 months.

The FCT administration hopes to deliver on several critical projects before the second year in office of President Tinubu for commissioning. President Tinubu had toured and inaugurated several projects in the city in May 2024 to mark one year in office of the administration.
