Today, I join millions across Benue State, Nigeria, and beyond to celebrate a remarkable leader, father, selfless patriot, and exemplary public servant, Senator Dr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), as he marks his 71st birthday.
Senator Akume’s life story is proof of the values of hard work, perseverance, and humility. He has risen through the ranks of public service—from Permanent Secretary, two-term Governor of Benue State, three-term Senator, Minister, and now Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). His journey is one of divine grace and extraordinary achievement.
Senator Akume’s contributions to the development of Benue State and Nigeria are unparalleled. He has been a beacon of hope, lifting others and creating opportunities for empowerment across communities. From championing policies that impact youth and women positively to his infrastructural development strides, Akume’s benevolence is felt in every corner of Benue. There is hardly a family or community that has not benefitted from his goodwill and vision.
His resolute commitment to the Jemgbagh nation, the Tiv people, Benue State, and Nigeria as a whole remains unmatched. Akume has consistently demonstrated that true leadership is not about personal gain but service to humanity. His numerous empowerment programs have uplifted thousands, proving that he is not just a leader but a blessing to our society.
To those who envy his achievements and have chosen the path of division rather than unity, I urge you to rethink your actions. Senator Akume’s legacy speaks for itself—he is a man whose legitimacy is earned through years of dedication and service, not usurped through arrogance or shortcuts. Leadership is about adding value, not tearing down others’ efforts.
I particularly admonish political actors within Benue State to rise above envy and bitterness. Our state and nation have much to gain when we unite behind a visionary leader like Senator Akume. The time for petty grievances is over; it is time to align with his leadership, which is a gift from God to our people.
As Senator Akume celebrates 71 years, I pray for his continued health, wisdom, and strength. His journey inspires us all, and I am confident that his impact will endure for generations to come. Senator Akume is not just a political leader; he is a father, mentor, and symbol of hope for Benue State and Nigeria.
May we, as a people, learn to recognize and support the great work that leaders like Senator Akume are doing. Let us rally together and support the man who has devoted his life to uplifting us all.
On this special day, I extend my heartfelt wishes to Senator George Akume. Happy 71st birthday, Sir. May God continue to bless and guide you as you lead us toward a brighter future.
