Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a major solid minerals company designed to accelerate industrialization, generate quality employment, attract new investment, and transform the state’s solid minerals into sustainable prosperity.
Governor Sani stated this while speaking to journalists after a high-level sideline meeting at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States of America.
“Today, we have also had a major agreement where we signed a deal with one of the major solid minerals companies.
“Of course, it’s Nigerian-based. They are doing a lot of businesses around the globe that will really also enhance our leadership in solid mineral resources not only in Nigeria, but beyond Nigeria,” Governor Sani noted.
NewsQuest reports that Governor Sani has continued to make significant efforts in developing Kaduna state’s solid minerals sector and signed into law the establishment of the state’s Mining Development Company (KMDC) to tap into its rich mineral resources such as gold, lithium, tantalite, kaolin, and gemstones.
Our correspondent gathered that the aim is to enhance revenue, create jobs, and promote local economic development.
Governor Sani disclosed that his government also signed an agreement with the Gates Foundation focusing specifically on agriculture and health.
“We signed an MoU with the Gates Foundation with Kaduna State that focuses on the issue of Agriculture, Healthcare, as well as the Digital Economy.
For Kaduna State here in New York, we have had a series of engagements,” the Governor said.
He explained that Kaduna State in New York also had several discussions and agreements with its partners in other areas, skill-based education because, of the state’s belief that it is another area in which they have strength but can only achieve much when partners are willing to partner with the government and also, invest in the state.
“Of course, we are here and we are seeing some of these achievements because of the major reforms established by the President Bola Tinubu administration, particularly, the unification of FOREX, removal of fuel subsidy, and the recent adjustment or reforms in our tax system, which has really brought back most of these confidence and that will also enhance some of the opportunities we are getting here, which also gives confidence to investors to come to invest in Nigeria, because that has also addressed the issue of ease of doing business.
“So, for me, this is something we are doing and we have seen a lot of results in what we are here to do in New York,” Governor Sani noted.
Reacting to the national statement delivered by Vice President Kashim Shettima at UNGA, the Kaduna State Governor said he was excited with Nigeria’s push for an independent Palestinian State and an end to the war in Gaza.
The Governor described the remarks by Vice President Shettima as a powerful presentation, which reaffirmed Nigeria’s position as a leader in Africa.
“We were with the Vice President where he made a very powerful presentation that was for me, also reaffirming Nigeria’s position as the leader in Africa.
“He made some important declarations particularly, his insistence that Nigeria deserves to be allowed to have a seat and to be a member of the UN Security Council.
“For me, it is very important considering the fact that we have had all the requirements as a country that has been leading globally particularly, Africa.
“He also discussed our position on the issue of the conflict between the Palestinians and Israel. It has to do with Gaza and our position on recognizing the Palestinian State. For me, it is very important. He so, anchored on our position as a country that believes in the fundamental human rights of all citizens both within Africa and globally.
“These are key areas that for me, I believe, we have to continue to focus and consolidate our position as a leading economy in Africa and as a country that also has done a lot, being one of the leaders in the global south,” Governor Uba stressed.
