Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to fast-track tailored electrification strategies and a sustainable decentralized solar power solution across unserved and underserved communities in the State.
The Governor disclosed this on his official Facebook page after presiding over a Renewable Energy Roundtable, organized jointly by the REA and the Kaduna State Government.
The roundtable was convened under the theme: ‘From Policy to Impact: Sustaining the New Kaduna State Electricity Market for Access, Investment & Industrial Growth’.
Governor Sani said, “To this effect, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Kaduna State Government and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to establish tailored electrification strategies and a sustainable decentralized solar power solution across unserved and underserved communities in Kaduna State.”
He noted that “I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the very profound Managing Director of the REA, Mr. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and his outstanding team, not only for their incisive and data-driven presentations, but also for their recognition of Kaduna State’s forward-looking energy transition policies.
“They rightly acknowledged the secure, enabling environment we have cultivated; an environment increasingly attracting discerning investors.
“It was especially gratifying to receive commendations from private sector participants, who expressed strong interest in partnering with our administration. This growing confidence in our governance ethos and development strategy underscores Kaduna’s emergence as a frontrunner in Nigeria’s energy transition.”
The Kaduna State Governor explained that, with the state’s abundant solar, biomass, and hydro resources, Kaduna is poised to serve as a national model for renewable energy, powering industry, uplifting communities, and advancing inclusive, sustainable growth.
The seminal gathering united a distinguished assembly of thought leaders and stakeholders from government, development institutions, and the private sector.
According to Governor Sani, it was an opportunity to embark on a deliberate and strategic dialogue to accelerate the expansion of energy access, deepen investment prospects, and catalyze industrial growth through innovative and sustainable renewable energy solutions.
“At the heart of our deliberations was a reaffirmation of Kaduna State’s unwavering commitment to establishing a transparent, investor-friendly electricity market; one underpinned by policy clarity, off-grid innovation, and industrial energy frameworks designed for long-term impact,” the Governor added.
