Beune State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia was among several other dignitaries who trooped into the Presidential Villa, Abuja, in solidarity with President Bola Tinubu, following the verdict of the Supreme Court affirming his election and that of his Vice, Kashim Shettima.
Governor Alia whose election is also being challenged by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presently at the Court of Appeals, expressed confidence in the judiciary, especially the highest court in the land, which he said is made up of wise men with deep knowledge.
The seven justices of the Supreme Court led by Justice John Ikyqnge Okoro, in a unanimous judgement on Thursday ruled that; “the judgement of the court delivered below, on the 6th of September 2023, affirming the election of the second respondent (Tinubu), as the duly elected President of the federal republic of Nigeria, is hereby affirmed.”
Speaking with State House correspondents after his solidarity meeting with President Tinubu, governor Alia that the decision of the Supreme Court was an exciting one for the country.
He said, “it is quite exciting because, now we are going to move ahead.
Governor Alia explained that he was sure that the President has great plans for the nation.
According to him, Benue would not want to miss out in jointing to support the President in delivering the dividend of democracy to the vast majority of Nigerians.
“His victory is not just a victory for the nation but those of us who are not on the same page for growth and development as it is intending, it is a larger victory for all of us.
On the Nigerian judiciary, governor Alia said, “these are people who are meticulous with the books.
“Today is a blessing for Nigeria that our sitting President carries the day ,please let us all join hands with him to taking our nation to higher heights because he not just the potential he has already started exhibiting what will bring our further growth,” he added.
