The Benue State Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has signed an executive order renaming the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation after the late journalist Chief Dan Agbese.
NewsQuest reports that the move fulfils a pledge made during a live broadcast celebrating the State’s 50th anniversary.
According to the statement by the Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity, and Startegy Solomon Iorpev, the decision aims to honour Agbese, a veteran figure whose contributions to journalism and public life have left a lasting mark on Benue.
The statem not said the renaming will embed excellence in public communication, safeguard Agbese’s legacy and motivate young people to embrace truthful, professional reporting.
The change takes immediate effect across all official documents, legal papers, signage and branding. Ministries and agencies have been ordered to implement it swiftly.
Governor Alia said the gesture would foster responsible journalism, ethical publishing and intellectual growth in the state. He urged media workers, writers, students and civil servants to embody Agbese’s values of courage and service.
The Benue State government reaffirmed its dedication to celebrating merit, safeguarding heritage and nurturing institutions that echo the State’s history and ambitions.
