Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has received an award as North-Central Governor of the Year, after a Digital Media Summit organized by officials at the presidency, Abuja.
The Governor on his official Facebook page wrote that he was handed over the award in Makurdi by the Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Social Media Dada Olusegun, with the theme; ‘Unveiling the critical role of new media in national development with a focus on the Renewed Hope agenda’.
“I am delighted to share that, at the recent Progressive Digital Media Summit, themed “Unveiling the Critical Role of New Media in National Development”, held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, I was deeply honoured to receive the award of North-Central Governor of the Year, as announced by the organisers,” Governor Alia said.
According to him, “The award was later presented to me in Government House, Makurdi by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media and Convener of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Centre, Hon. Dada Olusegun, who also gifted me a copy of the PBATVersary document launched at the event.
“This recognition is not only for me, it is for the people of Benue State, whose support, prayers, and belief in our vision for a transformed Benue have been the driving force behind our work.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organisers for this honour, and I dedicate this award to every Benue son and daughter who continues to stand with us as we work tirelessly to deliver good governance, development, and lasting peace.”
The Progressive Digital Media Summit was a two-day event held on August 1 and 2, 2025.
NewsQuest reports that the summit brought together digital communicators including policymakers, media professionals, influencers, content creators, and communication experts, and focused on the role of digital media in national development, supporting government policy implementation, and public perception.
