The African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) the Nigerian chapter, on Wednesday celebrated the 50th anniversary of the organization with cross-sectoral discussions on the impact of communication in the development of the continent.
The event which was held at the BAZE University Abuja, brought together experts and stakeholders in the field of communication to brainstorm on the dynamics of the industry in sustaining development and ensuring national cohesion for growth.
The theme for the 2024 (25th) international conference which doubles as the organization’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), is ‘ACCE, Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow; Reassessing Communication Dynamics For Sustainable Development In Africa’.

Chairman of, the Board of Trustees of the ACCE-Nigeria, Professor Stella Okunna, said the occasion provided members the opportunity to celebrate the organization for its great achievements over the last half a century.
ACCE was established in December 1976 in Nairobi Kenya, with a constitution formally adopted by heads of 14 training institutions.
The ACCE exists to promote journalism and communication education and develop communication resources in African countries as well as promote awareness among African governments in addition to several other roles.
Key speakers at Wednesday’s opening ceremony of the conference included the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos and the Commandant the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information Lieutenant Colonel Adamu Ngulde as well as representatives of various Universities and tertiary institutions across the country.
