CATA in London, lauds FIRS boss Adedeji’s positive impacts

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has been commended for his exemplary leadership and Nigeria’s significant contributions to the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators (CATA).

CATA, during its opening session of the 96th Management Committee Meeting held at Broadway London, United Kingdom, applauded Dr. Adedeji for his unwavering support of the organization.

FIRS in a statement on its Facebook page, said CATA’s Executive Director, Dr. Esther Koisin, and the Association’s Chairman, Mr. Mahmad Noor, who is the Acting Commissioner General of the Mauritius Revenue Authority in separate remarks, applauded Dr. Adedeji for his unwavering support of the association.

Dr. Koisin acknowledged the instrumental role played by Nigerian officials, including the country representative and correspondent, in supporting CATA’s secretariat and enhancing Nigeria’s contribution to the global tax community.

Dr. Adedeji, who served as the immediate past President of CATA, continues to be celebrated for his leadership and commitment to advancing tax administration within the Commonwealth.

CATA is an associated organization of the Commonwealth established in 1978 to promote effective tax administration among its 47 member countries, mainly in developing nations.

The tax expert group organizes conferences, training, publications, and knowledge sharing to improve tax systems.

Dr. Adedeji served as the 15th President of CATA from 2023 coinciding with his appointment as FIRS chairman. He concluded his tenure in May 2025.

NewsQuest reports that Dr. Adedeji’s presidency at CATA has been marked by innovation, integrity, and collaboration, driving reforms that have modernized tax systems, fostered economic development, and elevated Nigeria’s stature on the global tax stage.
