2027: Kaduna Governor Sani predicts landslide victory for Tinubu on first ballot

Governor of Kasuna State Uba Sani said President Bola Tinubu would lose a 2027 presidential election only on social media as anticipated by naysayers, not at the ballot box, highlighting a disconnect between online narratives and voter behavior.

Speaking to the Tinubu/Sani media mobilization team in Kaduna, as shown in footage aired by Channels Television, Governor Sani predicted President Tinubu would claim 70% of votes cast at polling units.

“If the election is going to be conducted on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or social media, Asiwaju will lose,” he said.

“But if it is people who will vote through the ballot… he is going to win 70% of the votes.”

Governor Sani’s remarks comes amid Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, where platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Instagram amplify voices—especially among urban youth—but rarely mirror electoral outcomes.

In the 2023 presidential race, Labour Party candidate Peter Obi dominated online mobilization, yet the All Progressives Congress (APC) standard-bearer President Tinubu prevailed with votes spread across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.

Governor Sani also praised President Tinubu’s support for subnational governments, calling it “unprecedented” and more generous than any prior leader’s.

Separately, the media team toured federal projects, including the long-delayed Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, which officials expect to complete by year-end 2026—a potential boost for commerce in Nigeria’s north.

As 2027 alignments sharpen, analysts note social media’s rising sway in shaping perceptions but affirm that party machines, turnout and rural networks still drive results at Nigeria’s 176,000-plus polling units.
