President Bola Tinubu will on Staurday embark on a one-day official visit to Kebbi State, where he will inaugurate projects delivered by the Governor Nasir Idris.
The trip will culminate in President Tinubu serving as special guest of honour at the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, one of Africa’s most vibrant celebrations.
The event celebrates the end of the farming season and start of fishing, featuring traditional water sports called “kabanci” like bare-hand fishing, canoe races, and duck catching on the Matan Fada River
A statement by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga said the event held by the banks of the historic Matan Fada river—which Unesco recognises as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity—draws thousands for its blend of bare-handed fishing competitions and traditional displays.
The four-day festival includes wrestling, boxing, music, dance, and an agricultural show, drawing thousands for unity and heritage.
