President Bola Tinubu has assured religious and traditional leaders that Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty remain unshakable, even as terrorists grow desperate in the face of military defeats.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement, said President Tinubu stated this at an interfaith breaking of the fast at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He commended the leaders for fostering peace and moral guidance in their communities.

“Yes, we are challenged; the terrorists are very desperate now because they are getting barraged and defeated,” President Tunubu said.

“They leave trails of blood in their wake. But I assure you of one thing: Nigeria will never surrender. We are not discouraged. We are going to win and win well,” he noted.

According to Onanuga, President Tinubu, who took office in 2023 amid economic turmoil, expressed delight with the recent progress his government has made.

The President explained that the economy has turned the corner. It is getting better,” he said.

“Pensioners are getting their relief gradually. We have saved Nigeria from bankruptcy.”

He added that no state governor now seeks bank loans to pay workers’ salaries, a stark contrast to the challenges upon his inauguration.

President Tinubu therefore, pledged continued investment in agriculture and education to build a lasting legacy, urging citizens not to lose hope.

“All I can do is promise that I will continue to be faithful in discharging my duty,” he said.

Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe, who represented the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, and Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar of Sokoto, praised the event as a symbol of unity and prayed for the president’s success and national peace.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), speaking for the Evangelical Church Winning All, affirmed the church’s support for the administration’s economic and security efforts.

Leaders from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones attended the gathering.
