President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, and 25 others to leadership posts across 10 federal agencies and commissions, the presidency said Monday.
In a statement, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviaer on Information and Strategy said the appointments take immediate effect.
Fayose was named chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, joining a board that includes Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and nonexecutive directors.
The agency’s Director-General Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors round out the board, the statement said.
Major General Junaid Bindawa was tapped to chair the National Salary and Wages Commission, while former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was named secretary.
The commission’s roster also includes commissioners Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna). Other members listed were Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
President Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had been appointed executive secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, to serve as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
Other senior appointments announced Monday include Dr. Abuh Mohammed as director-general of the National Population Commission; Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as managing director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc.; and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as chairman and chief executive officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Engineer Julius Oloro was named chief executive of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, succeeding Dr. A.R. Kamal. The president also constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman and Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola as members.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non‑Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund in April.
The President named Gisaor Vincent Iorja Executive-Director (finance) of the Federal Housing Authority. An economist and legal scholar currently serving as secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr. Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue governorship.
