President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa, continuing a string of consultations as the governing party positions itself ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The Governors met under the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF) for the closed-door session shortly after the National Economic Council (NEC) presided by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
It was unclear what the agenda of the engagement between the Governors and the President.
NewsQuest reports that the presidential meeting comes days after the APC unveiled its presidential campaign council for the 2027 election.
The party named former Zamfara governor Abdulaziz Yari as director-general and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as secretary, signaling an early move to organize the party’s electoral machinery.
APC this week also announced that it will reopen its electronic membership-registration exercise nationwide starting Monday, August 31.
The party said the resumption was authorized in a statement by Felix Morka, the APC’s national publicity secretary.
The flurry of activity underscores the ruling party’s drive to consolidate internal structures and coordinate strategy as Nigeria approaches the next general election cycle.
