President Bola Tinubu on Sunday met the commander of US Africa Command, Dagvin Anderson, at Aso Rock, in what appears to be a bid to bolster cooperation with Washington amid government’s battle against rising insecurity.

General Anderson was joined by his team and the Charge D’ Affairs US Embassy in Nigeria Keith Heffern at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga shared pictures of the event on his X formerly Twitter.

NewsQuest reports that the Sunday meeting builds on prior engagements, including General Anderson’s 2025 Rome meeting with President Tinubu via the “Archibald Process,” a discreet US-Nigeria channel for counter-terrorism coordination.

Present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed and other top government functionaries.

The US has shown increased interest in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges, particularly violent extremism and insurgency.
