President Bola Tinubu has congratulated his Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters (Senate) Senator Basheer Lado, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President Bayo Onanuga in a statement Thursday said Tinubu described Lado as a dependable public servant and accomplished legislator whose experience has helped to ease relations between the executive and the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
Lado represented Kano Central in the Senate from 2011 to 2015, serving as vice-chair of the committee on works before becoming President Tinubu’s liaison officer in the red chamber.
“In the several capacities he has found himself, Senator Lado has been very impactful,” President Tinubu said.
“As Senator, Lado facilitated the Kundila Bridge, popularly known as Gadar Lado, among other projects for his constituents in Kano.”
The President also cited Lado’s previous roles as federal commissioner at the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, and director-general of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (Naptip).
Tinubu stressed that Senator Lado had helped protect vulnerable Nigerians and support displaced people.
The President also praised the Ladon Alheri Foundation, associated with Lado, for its work in education, healthcare, women’s economic empowerment, rural water supply and assistance to disadvantaged communities.
“As Senator Lado attains 60, I commend his commitment to public service, loyalty to our Renewed Hope administration and invaluable contributions to strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria,” the president said.
“I congratulate him on this milestone and wish him good health, wisdom and strength as he continues to serve our nation,” the statement added.
NewsQuest reports that Senator Lado who was born on 16 October 1966 in Nasarawa, Kano State, holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano.
Before full-time public service, he built interests in banking, property, and trading, and founded the Ladon Alheri Foundation, a charity supporting education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, water access, and disadvantaged communities.
