President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of rerun and local elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers states, praising the All Progressives Congress (APC) triumphs as a boost to his party’s dominance.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw voting on Saturday across the FCT’s six area councils, as well as by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II in Rivers, and Kano Municipal and Ungogo in Kano.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Startegy Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged victors to govern with “humility, patriotism and dedication”, treating their mandates as a “sacred trust”.
He singled out FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for infrastructure gains that delivered “political dividends” to the APC.
President Tinubu extended thanks to APC leaders nationwide and in the affected States, while commending INEC, security agencies and voters for a peaceful process.
The President also praised contestants’ “courage and discipline”, arguing that such competition strengthens democracy.
He called on INEC to build on the polls’ success, as the administration reinforces the country’s democratic institutions amid ongoing scrutiny and concerns about electoral integrity.
