President Bola Tinubu has named Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as new Head of the Federal Civil Service of the Federation.

Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President Bayo Onanuga in a statement on Wednesday said the appointment takes effect on August 27.

The appointment elevates Enitan from the position as the most senior Permanent Secretary in the service to a role central to implementing the administration’s reform agenda.

Enitan succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who will retire after reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.

A career civil servant from Osun State, Enitan has been a permanent secretary for seven years and seven months and currently serves in the Federal Ministry of Education.

He has held senior postings at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, and the Office of the Vice‑President, the statement said.

The presidency statement described Enitan as bringing “considerable institutional experience” and a deep understanding of how the federal civil service operates.

President Tinubu, in the statement extended commendation to the outgoing HoSF Mrs. Walson‑Jack for her “distinguished service” and for reforms and innovations introduced during her tenure, and wished her a “fulfilling and successful life after service.”

In charging the new appointee, President Tinubu urged Enitan to consolidate existing reforms, deepen professionalism and efficiency across the service, and build a more effective and responsive civil service to deliver on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

NewsQuest reports that Enitan was born Dec. 12, 1966 and educated at Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan and the College of Arts and Science, Ile‑Ife.

He earned a B.Sc. in finance and banking from the University of Lagos in 1988 and an M.Sc. in public policy analysis from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in 2015.
