President Bola Tinubu has nominated career diplomat Ismail Abba Yusuf as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Senate.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onaoluwa, in a statement, said the appointment is contained in a letter to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.

He said President Tinubu requested swift confirmation of Yusuf to replace Professor Abdullahi Usman, who resigned after 14 months in the role.

The nomination follows the provisions of section 3(2) of the Nahcon Act 2006.

Yusuf, who served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Turkey from 2021 to 2024, brings extensive diplomatic experience to the position.
