President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday issued new directives to Heads of security agencies to end the renewed spate of killings in some parts of the country, National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu have said.
This is the second time in less than two weeks that President Tinubu has reeled out directives to security chiefs since the recent spike in violent killings that have taken a toll on many communities.
Wednesday’s closed-door meeting with President Tinubu included the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mohammed Mohammed, the Chief Defence intelligence of Nigeria Army, General Emmanuel Undianeye, Director General Department of State Services, Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi and Chief of staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.
Although NSA Ribadu did not give specific details on the new instructions from the President, Tinubu had on Friday last week ordered the security agencies to “end decisively and without delay” the persistent wave of insecurity that has claimed several lives.
“He is so worried, he insisted that enough is enough. And we are working to ensure that we restore peace and security,” Rubadu stressed.
The NSA continued “We listened and took instructions from him. We got new directives.
“The fact is that Mr. President is insisting and working very hard to ensure that we have peace, security, and stability in our country,” the NSA said in an interview.
