Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Tuesday reappointed Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti as Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Dr. Fasoranti resigned from the same position in late March 2026 and contested his party’s Senate primary for the Ondo State Central senatorial district.

Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan in a statement said the appointment is effective immediately.

Dr. Fasoranti previously served as SSG until his resignation on March 30, 2026, which followed his decision to seek the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Ondo Central senatorial district.

NewsQuest reports that Dr. Taiwo defeated incumbent Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire in the party primary held on May 18, 2026, with 36,652 votes to 5,733 but was subsequently substituted by the APC in Abuja, after the party’s panel handling various petitions from the outcome of the primary election decided order wise.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has commended Dr. Fasoranti’s experience in public administration and policy, urging him to advance the administration’s “Our Ease” agenda with dedication and integrity, according to a statement from Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the governor’s chief press secretary.

Dr. Fasoranti’s return restores an experienced hand to the State’s top administrative post as the governor pursues policy priorities ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Dr. Taiwo is a medical doctor with several years of experience rising to retire from public service as Director at the State House Medical Center, Abuja.

Described as a family physician, medical educator, and humanitarian, the son of Afenifere leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti previously chaired the Ondo State Hospitals Management Board and led health-focused initiatives in the country.
