A Non-Governmental Organization, NGO, Citizens for Equality and Good Governance Nigeria, CEGGN, has appealed to  President Bola Tinubu to end the incessant attacks on the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPCL) Engineer Bashir Bayo  Ojulari, by those it described as  unpatriotic individuals who are bent on truncating the positive reforms being implemented by the current NNPCL leadership.

The group said the renewed agitation demanding the removal of the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL is targeted at sabotaging the nation’s economy, thereby derailing the steady recovery of Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Leader of the Group/Convener, CEGGN, Comrade, Robert Terfa Swem, who spoke to Newsmen, Thursday in Abuja, accused some notable political elite of being behind the ill-conceived plot to remove Ojulari and pave the way for the full return of oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta area.

He said the new NNPCL leadership has successfully blocked linkages in the oil sector, which led to the increased production capacity of Nigeria, resulting in the country’s meeting its OPEC quota for the first time in history.

Swem described as baseless and unfounded, allegations leveled against the NNPCL boss, whom he said has performed excellently.

He attributed the meeting of Nigeria’s 2025 revenue target to the relentless war waged by the federal government through the company’s support to end  illegal oil bunkering.

According to him, the success of the transformational reforms ongoing in the NNPCL under Ojulari is what has caused the mounting campaign of hate and blackmail against him.

While  appealing to the youth of the Niger Delta to refrain from being used by those who do not wish the country well,  Swem explained that the performance of the new team at the helm of affairs at the corporation will Enhance the reelection bid of President Tinubu come 2027.

He observed that those behind the plot to remove Ojulari of planning to frustrate the transformation that is being witnessed in the organization in a short time.

He revealed that the framers of the unfolded allegations are actually working against the reelection of the President.

He further explained that those bent on blackmailing Ojulari to pave the way for his sack, are working against the progress of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president.

The CEGGN Convener, who is a known youth mobiliser, said those behind the plot have resorted to championing ethnic chauvinism.

He stated  that Nigeria belongs to every section of the country; therefore, no part should be used by individuals to promote their self-serving, criminal enterprise.

“Let me appeal to President Tinubu, to disregard such persons. Ojulari, leadership has increased revenue to the government, and subregional entities are now happy with Mr.President.”

He said  his organization is demanding that the president and others allow Engr. Ojulari to continue with the good work he is doing in the organization.

He said  with Ojulari’s pedigree in the oil sector, and the full backing of the President, Nigeria will soon witness the benefits of being an oil-producing State.
