Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Wednesday charged contractors on major infrastructure projects to stick to timelines ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office next month.

The Minister, during an inspection tour of key sites—including the Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange, the Airport Road-Kuje corridor, the Kuje-Gwagwalada dualization, the redesigned City Gate, and the Wuse-Central Business District link road, stressed the need to deliver on the “Renewed Hope” agenda’s promise to transform Abuja.

In a statement by the Deputy Director Press in the Minister’s office Rabi Musa said at the City Gate project, led by Julius Berger, Wike voiced approval.

“It’s a very good and beautiful work,” he said.

“In the next month, anyone coming to Abuja will see a different landscape. This is what is required to let you know that you are in a capital city,” the Minister added.

He said the site will feature 24-hour surveillance, permanent security, and AI monitoring to bolster safety.

Minister Wike projected 95% completion soon for the Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange by CBC Global and expressed optimism for Arab Contractors to finish the Airport Road-Kuje junction by May’s end.

He praised the Wuse-Central Area link road, however, citing concerns over pace despite solid engineering. “Quality is not in doubt, but I’m still doubtful about completion on time,” he said.

“I’am pleading with the company to keep to the timing, because these are projects we have scheduled to be inaugurated for the third anniversary of this administration.”

The anniversary roster is extensive, Minister Wike said, encompassing water-treatment projects in Bwari, Karu, Orozo, and Ushafa; road upgrades in Katampe, Gishiri, Gaduwa, and the Research Institution area; satellite-town interventions like Bill Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki Road and sections of the Kuje-Gwagwalada corridor; the Bazango-Kubwa network; and the Apo Mechanic site relocation in Wasa.

“The project list is bigger than I can count at the moment,” Wike noted.

“We are very happy with the level of commitment by various companies, and we will do our part to fulfill our financial obligations.”
