Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC), for approving infrastructure contracts worth more than ₦1 trillion and ₦178 billion ($210 million), hailing them as pivotal for the State’s economic revival.

The centerpiece is the Kaduna Light Rail Project, a 50-kilometer network linking Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha (30 km) and Millennium City to Rigasa (20 km), valued at ₦1 trillion. Paired with it is the ₦178 billion reconstruction of the 122-kilometer Mando-Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, a vital corridor long plagued by insecurity and decay.

“These projects represent a deliberate re-engineering of mobility, security, and economic vitality,” Governor Sani said in a statement hebpersonally signed.

The Governor stressed role in fostering an integrated transport ecosystem.

The light rail—making Kaduna only the second State in Nigeria to pursue such a system—builds on the State’s ongoing 24-kilometer Bus Rapid Transit initiative, subsidized compressed natural gas buses, and a new State Transport Policy prioritizing efficiency, safety, sustainability, and affordability.

Governor Sani credited President Tinubu’s leadership for recognizing Kaduna’s preparedness, noting the President’s 2023 campaign visit to strife-torn Birnin Gwari, where he pledged infrastructure upgrades.

The road rehabanilitation, Governor Sani said, will boost connectivity, agricultural output, and community confidence in a region isolated by banditry.

Kaduna, a logistics hub, pledges swift execution to cement these as “enduring legacies” for prosperity and security.

NewsQuest report that the deals reflect President Tinubu’s drive for equitable national development.
