The Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has been conferred with a merit award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), falling under the Non-Member Accountant Category, which recognizes distinguished professionals who are not accountants themselves but have made outstanding contributions in their fields.
Governor Sani in a statement on his official Facebook page expressed sincere appreciation to ICAN for the award.
The award was conferred on the Kaduna State Governor at the 2025 Annual Dinner.
Governor Sani said, It is an honour that he deeply values.
According to him, “Kaduna State remains committed to partnering with ICAN to drive reforms, enhance capacity, and strengthen financial governance.
“It was a privilege to welcome the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Dr. Haruna N. Yahaya, FCA, and his delegation on a courtesy visit.
“As a respected body, ICAN has championed ethics, professionalism, and accountability in Nigeria’s financial sector, producing thousands of Chartered Accountants who contribute significantly at home and abroad,” Governor Sani said.
The Kaduna State Governor explained that his administration has prioritized transparency and good governance through reforms such as joining the Open Government Partnership (OGP), the Infrastructure Transparency Initiative (CoST), adopting IPSAS, and signing the Kaduna Mutual Accountability Framework (KaMAF) with the UK’s FCDO.
He noted that these initiatives reflect our commitment to openness, accountability, and sustainable development.
“To build institutional capacity, we partnered with ICAN to train over 100 state accountants in Public Financial Management. We are now set to launch a senior-level training programme this September to deepen technical skills and promote professional excellence in governance,” Governor Sani added.
