President Bola Tinubu has pledged never to betray Nigerians’ trust defending his administration’s sweeping economic reforms as necessary steps toward long-term prosperity.
Speaking through Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the inauguration of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots mobilization initiative backing the Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, the President said difficult decisions taken since he took office are intended to lay foundations for growth.
The movement was launched in Abuja to take the administration’s message directly to communities across Nigeria.
“I am determined never to betray the trust by Nigerians, and the vision of ensuring a better Nigeria,” Mr. Tinubu said, according to the text delivered by Mr. Akpabio. He urged activists to press the case for the reforms in door‑to‑door conversations, arguing that democracy requires sustained engagement between officials and citizens.
President Tinubu acknowledged the reforms have imposed hardships but framed those sacrifices as unavoidable for lasting progress.
“The purpose of reforms is not to make life difficult for citizens but to lay the foundation that future generations can build on,” he said.
The President also described the reforms as a collective project, calling for cooperation among the executive, the legislature and the public.
He warned against letting partisan divisions derail national goals and urged supporters to promote unity and respect in grassroots campaigning.
NewsQuest reports that the inauguration marks the start of a nationwide campaign to bolster support for the President’s policy agenda.
High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo—known as Tompolo—was credited with helping to convene the movement.
The eventorganizers thanked thousands of attendees, including political leaders, traditional rulers and members of civil society, for what they described as an emphatic show of backing for President Tinubu’s leadership.
Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, speaking for the movement’s patron, described President Tinubu as a leader with “uncommon resolve” and urged volunteers to remain peaceful and disciplined as they promote the administration’s objectives.
“Together we shall continue to mobilize support, strengthen grassroots engagement and promote constructive citizen participation in nation building,” Mr. Pondi said, while acknowledging the road ahead may be difficult.
President Tinubu reiterated that the policy changes pursued during his three years in office are intended to reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustained growth, saying the country’s prospects are improving as a result.
