The son of Gabon’s ousted President has been arrested and charged for ‘treason’ by the military coup leaders who stroke early hours of Wednesday with Ali Bongo and some of his family members currently in house arrest.

The coup leaders seized power in Gabon saying they were annulling the results of Saturday’s election which the opposition had denounced as “fraudulent”.

“President Ali Bongo is under house arrest, surrounded by his family and doctors,” they said in a statement read out on state TV.
