The Anioma community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, represented by the “IZU ANIOMA TOWNS UNION,” has thrown its full support behind the creation of Anioma State. This decision was reached during their monthly general meeting on July 27, 2024, following an Executive Consultative Meeting on July 13, 2024, attended by leaders and representatives of various Anioma groups and associations in the FCT.

In a press statement, the union declared, “We unanimously resolved to align ourselves with the vision of Anioma forefathers for the creation of Anioma State and thus endorse in totality all that Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko has done and will continue to do in pursuit of this vision.”

The union urged the Senate to prioritize the creation of Anioma State. “It would be out of place at this point to exclude the creation of Anioma State, even if it is the only state to be considered,” the statement emphasized.

Reflecting on the prolonged campaign for Anioma State, the union noted, “The agitation for Anioma State dates back decades and remains unattended to. It would be symbolic and historic if the 10th Senate were to realize the creation of Anioma State.”

The statement also highlighted the potential benefits of creating Anioma State. “There is no doubt that Anioma State if created, can fully utilize its potential and resources for the development of the state, its people, and the greater good of the nation.”

The Anioma community expressed deep appreciation for Senator Ned Nwoko’s leadership and representation in the Senate. “We commend Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko for his exemplary leadership and quality representation of the Anioma people in the Senate. His efforts have demonstrated that when a job is entrusted to someone knowledgeable, the results exceed expectations.”

Addressing opposition to the initiative, the president of the union Barr. Luke Enelichi (KSJI) stated, “We are not perturbed by dissenting voices. Instead, we see them as demonstrating patriotism and necessary concern within a democratic setting, and they are highly welcomed.”

The resolution concludes with a robust endorsement of Senator Nwoko’s efforts. “We support Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko’s motion and submissions for the creation of Anioma State.”
