Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of new Special Advisers and the constitution of boards of some key commissions in the state.
NewsQuest reports that Governor Alia’s decision to make the new appointments, is part of his commitment to reposition all government institutions and parastatals for optimal service delivery, efficiency, and accountability in transforming the ‘Food Basket’, and align the state with the administration’s vision of expansive economic and infrastructural growth.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Tersoo Kula in a statement on Sunday said, the appointments are with immediate effect and include Linda Agada who is appointed as Special Adviser on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises/Microfinance.
The statement said James Tor has been appointed as Special Adviser on Politics, Mobilisation, and Special Duties; while Dr. Shadrach Ukuma is appointed as Director-General of Arts, Culture, and Tourism.
Tivlumun Bulya is appointed as Personal Assistant on Benue State House of Assembly Matters.
The statement detailed the composition of the Benue State Pension Commission Board to include the following,
1. Mbajwa Zungwega Nicholas as Chairman.
2. Cmrd. Umaja A. Alloysius as Member.
3. Asen Sambe as Member.
4. Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as Member.
5. Commissioner for Finance as Member.
6. Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission as Member.
7. Head of Service as Member.
8. Director-General of the Benue State Planning Commission as Member.
For the Benue Investment and Property Company, Governor Alia appointed the following;
1. Chief Elizabeth Shuluwa as Chairman.
2. Andrew Aondofa Chila as Member.
3. Ashi Iortyom Donald as Member.
4. John Ochonye Oyishoma as Member.
5. Commissioner for Trade and Industry as Member.
6. Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State as Member.
The Governor announced other appointments for the Benue Internal Revenue Service Board to includes;
1. Ande Clement Shianti as Member.
2. Anyam Terzungwe Jeremiah as Member.
3. Elizabeth Onekele as Member.
4. Representative from the Ministry of Finance as Member.
5. Representative from the Ministry of Agriculture as Member.
Governor Alia urged the newly appointed officials to leverage their “wealth of experience, commitment, and professionalism” in their roles.
He described the appointments as part of his administration’s efforts to “strengthen governance structures and drive sustainable development across the state.”
Alia called on the appointees to view their positions as a “call to service.”
He assured that his administration remains focused on transforming Benue for the benefit of all residents.
The new appointments are coming two weeks after Governor Alia on September 3, 2025, assigned portfolios to 17 newly appointed commissioners following the dissolution of his cabinet in July.
