Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume has pleaded with Nigerians to exercise some patience with President Bola Timubu as the administration continuous to make deliberate efforts in reforms tailored towards bolstering the economy and improving lives.
Senator Akume stated this when the management of Nile University of Nigeria conferred an Honourary Doctoral Degree on him in recognition of his immense contribution to nation building as an astute administrator and a consummate progressive.
Chancellor of the institution, HRH Abubakar Ibn Garba El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, presented the award to Senator Alume at the 12th convocation ceremony of the institution in Abuja.
While receiving the award, Senator Akume commended the institution, describing it as a world class University for remaining focused in contributing its quota to the development of the country.
Senator Akume said that the efforts of the administration led by President Tinubu will soon start yielding positive results as already being witnessed with the revival of the Port Harcourt refinery which has commenced operation with the view to stabilizing petroleum product availability.
The SGF also explained that the tax reforms bill and other policies of the Tinubu’s administration were targeted at improving the well- being of Nigerians.
Other prominent Nigerians also conferred with honorary doctoral degrees along with SGF Akume at the NILE Varsity event were the Chairman and CEO, A. A Rano Group of Companies Limited, Auwalu Abdullahi Rano, and Chairman Chrome Group, Chief Emeka Ofor.
SGF Akume was accompanied to the award ceremony by his wife Honourable Regina Akume a member of the House of Representatives representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency of Benue State, and the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev.
