A major crisis Sunday hit the 49-year old Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), following a declaration by three Sahel nations who in a joint statement on state televisions said that they had made a “sovereign decision” to leave the regional bloc “without delay”. The decision by the Benue State Governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia to construct elevated roadways popularly called flyovers at Wurukum and High-Level roundabout areas of the State capital, Makurdi, once again, demonstrates the readiness of his government to improve the living condition of millions of Benue people.
