The Nigerian Army on Tuesday launched a two-day conference on aimed at boosting the efficiency of its supply and transport operations amid complex security challenges across the country.

Major General Nansak Danjuma Shagaya, Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport, opened the event at the Muhammadu Buhari Auditorium in the Nigerian Army School of Supply and Transport in Benin Edo State.

The conference, themed “Optimising ST Capabilities Towards Providing Effective Service Delivery to Nigerian Army Operations in All Missions,” seeks to review the corps’ performance in ongoing missions, foster professional dialogue, and address emerging logistical hurdles.

“The contemporary operational landscape in which the Nigerian Army operates is increasingly complex and multidimensional,” General Shagaya said.

“Modern military operations are characterised by fluid threat dynamics, technological evolution, and heightened demands on operational sustainability.

“In such an environment, the role of logistics has become even more critical.”

He described the gathering as a forum for commanders to exchange ideas, evaluate challenges, and devise strategies to enhance resilience and responsiveness in a volatile security setting. Participants were urged to engage with

“intellectual depth, professional candor and a shared commitment” to the corps’ mission.

In a welcome address, Major General Adebayo Olatunde Adegbite, Commandant of the school, emphasized alignment with the corps’ philosophy: developing a “highly proficient Supply and Transport Corps capable of efficiently supporting the Nigerian Army to fulfil its constitutional responsibilities in all missions.”

He highlighted opportunities for knowledge-sharing to drive efficiency under the chief of army staff’s broader vision.

The conference, running through Wednesday, will culminate in a pulling-out ceremony and gala night on Thursday honoring retired generals.

Highlights include a group photograph, the commissioning of a soldiers’ dining hall and a remodeled driving simulation center, and the unveiling of Colonel Taiwo Crescent.
