Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has instructed elite troops of the 4 Special Forces Command to decisively defeat terrorists and insurgents across the country.
Speaking during his first operational visit to the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, on Tuesday, General Shaibu said the units were leading a campaign to dismantle criminal networks threatening national security.
Addressing personnel at the command and the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, he stressed the need for precision, intelligence-led strikes and proactive tactics to dominate the battlefield.
“The era of reactive engagements is over,” he warned, adding that no sanctuary would be tolerated for terrorists anywhere in Nigeria.
Acting Director Army Public Relations Appolinia Anele in a statement said General Shaibu received briefings from Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo, commander of the 4 Special Forces Command, and Brigadier General Umar Faruk Abubakar, commandant of the special forces school.
He expressed satisfaction with operations and training, approving new accommodation and facilities to boost welfare and efficiency.
Troops’ welfare remains a priority, he said, pledging investment in training, logistics and equipment to maintain superiority over adversaries.
In a nod to sustainability, General Shaibu and senior officers planted trees at the cantonment.
