President Bola Tinubu approved N2 billion in emergency relief for victims of recent violence in Plateau State, Humanitarian Affairs Minister Mohammed Dorro announced.

The President on Monday night met with State leaders at the Presidential Villa to tackle the region’s persistent farmer-herder clashes, ethnic tensions and religious strife.

The funding comes in the midst of President Tinubu’s drive for tolerance and accountability during a meeting with a 32-member delegation led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

“Let us first accept one resolution—tolerance for every inhabitant,” President Tinubu said, urging leaders to review past government reports, implement white-paper recommendations, identify provocateurs for prosecution and foster integration to halt the cycle of killings.

The meeting fulfilled President Tinubu’s pledge after a deadly March 29 attack in Jos North’s Angwan Rukuba neighborhood.

Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President Bayo Onanuga in a statement said attendees included former governors Senators Simon Lalong and Jonah Jang, ex-Governor Joshua Dariye, All Progressives Congress (APC), National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, the Emir of Wase, CAN Chairman Rev. Dr. Dunka Gomwalk, youth representatives and traditional rulers.

Governor Mutfwang called the summit historic—the first with all living ex-governors present—and vowed to transform conflict into economic opportunity in Plateau, a state critical to Nigeria’s economy that has lost decades to unrest.

“We are determined to build a state we can all be proud of,” he said.

Gbong Gwom Jos Jacob Gyang Buba praised President Tinubu’s leadership and called for more troops, CCTV deployment, state police, IDP returns before the rainy season and additional federal appointments for locals.

Christian and Muslim youth leaders pledged harmony, while ex-member of the House of Representatives  Idris Wase emphasized rule-of-law enforcement and curbing drug-fueled crime.

President Tinubu promised federal infrastructure support, adding: “To stop creating orphans, widows and widowers, there must be enduring peace.”
