SGF Akume urges States to adopt result coordination delivery units ahead of 2027 polls

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Goerge Akume has called on States’ Secretaries of government to establish central result delivery coordination units (CRDCUs) to mirror federal efforts under President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, as the country gears up for the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at a 2026 Renewed Hope Ambassadors summit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Akume described SSGs as the “backbone” for coordination and delivery systems across sub-nationals.

SGF Akume emphasised the role of SSGs alongside Governors in implementing the administration’s eight priority areas, including economic growth, food security, national security and anti-corruption.

“This session is significant for several critical reasons, especially as we come down in months to the 2027 general election,” Akume said, noting that progressive States now number 29 out of 36.

He also described SSGs as “chief coordinators and chief ambassadors at state level”, beyond partisan lines, insisting: “Nigerians are expecting.

“Our promises are real, our commitment journey and delivery is sacrificing to this administration,” he noted.

SGF Akume who outlined the agenda’s unbundled focus areas—reforming the economy for inclusive growth, boosting agriculture, enhancing infrastructure, and accelerating industrialisation through digital innovation—urged States to create CRDCUs with “digital dashboards and performance scorecards” open to public scrutiny.

“You also have to allow the members of the public to have access to the data so that they can also criticise and add value,” he appealed, citing examples including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Kaduna and Gombe.

Drawing on Vice President Kashim Shettima’s description of the Renewed Hope Agenda as “a covenant between government and the people”, SGF Akume stressed coordination between federal and state levels through regular reporting and joint reviews.

Akume explained that in Nigeria’s federal system, SSGs serve as “chief administrative officers at the state level, responsible for day-to-day running”.

The summit brought together Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the National Worling Committee of the party, leadership of the National Assembly and high-level politicians and critical stakeholders.
