Minister Utsev seeks ICRC’s partnership to improve Nigeria’s water, sanitation, food production

Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Professor Joseph Utsev on Monday solicited the partnership of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) with his Ministry in scaling up access to clean and safe water and food production in the country.

Professor Utsev made the call during a meeting with the Director General of the ICRC, Dr Johnson Ewalefoh and his team in Abuja.

In a statement by his Personal Assistant on Media and Punlicity, Terhemen Oraduen, the Minister said such collaboration was key to increase access to water and sanitation services in the country.

He stresses that the Public Private Partnership (PPP), remains a critical strategy in achieving the food security agenda of the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Minister Utsev informed the team about ongoing national campaign against open defecation by the Ministry and the compelling need for all citizens to support the programme and make Nigeria an open defecation free nation by the year 2030.

Director General of the ICRC, Dr Johnson Ewalefoh explained that the visit was to strengthen  partnership with the ministry to enhance the expansion of water supply infrastructure, ensure rehabilitation and operation of dams and irrigation system  to boost food production, improve sanitation and hygiene facilities especially in public schools and hospitals as well as hydropower generation in the country.

He thanked Professor Utsev for his outstanding leadership in the Water Resources and Sanitation Ministry.
