Former Defence Minister Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.) has called on Nigerians to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, arguing that a second term is needed to complete the administration’s ongoing programmes and projects.

Danjuma made the appeal at the 20th-anniversary and fundraising ceremony for the Adamawa State Government House Chapel in Yola on Saturday.

He was represented by former Chief of Army Staff Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi.

“A first tenure will not be enough for President Tinubu to conclude the programmes and projects his administration has started,” Danjuma said.

He urged Nigerians, particularly those in the Middle Belt, to support the president’s re-election bid.

Danjuma also praised Tinubu for appointing Christians to senior government positions, describing the appointments as evidence of the administration’s fairness and tolerance.

The former Minister pledged N250 million toward the expansion of the Government House Chapel, saying the donation would help ensure the facility endures over time.

He urged worshippers to maintain a connection with God in both their personal and collective endeavors.

First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, the event’s Special Guest of Honour, warned young Nigerians against being used by “desperate politicians” as instruments of destruction during the 2027 election cycle.

She was represented by Adamawa State Deputy Gov. Farauta George.

She encouraged young people to serve as ambassadors of peace and positive change and to conduct themselves responsibly before, during and after the elections.

She also called on residents to work together to build a peaceful and prosperous state, regardless of religious, ethnic or political differences.

The First Lady described the Government House Chapel as a spiritual home and rallying point for Christians across denominations.

She urged its leadership and congregation to preserve its spiritual foundation and sustain its activities through prayer, worship and commitment to God.

Former Adamawa Gov. Boni Haruna, who oversaw the chapel’s construction during his tenure, said the facility was established in 2005 as part of the original architectural plan for the Government House complex.

The design included both a mosque and a Christian chapel, reflecting principles of equity, fairness and religious inclusion, he said.

Haruna expressed hope that the chapel would continue to symbolise religious tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence in Adamawa State.

Earlier, Chairman of the Chapel’s Board of Trustees Boss Mustapha described the anniversary as more than a celebration of the chapel’s survival.

He said it represented two decades of faith, courage, perseverance, unity and what he called God’s enduring faithfulness.

The event drew Christian worshippers, who made donations toward the chapel’s expansion project.
